The Kurayoshi whisky brand was created in April 2016 by the Matsui Shuzou distillery, founded in 1910, and is produced at the eponymous Kurayoshi Distillery.
This whisky was aged for over 3 years in American white oak bourbon casks, then further matured in sherry casks. On the nose, it reveals aromas of ripe fruits and chocolate. On the palate, it is similar, with additional notes of fruit and lemongrass. The sweetness and bitterness are elegantly balanced.
Nose: dry grass, cashews, a light hint of sherry and chocolate
Palate: lemongrass, green malt, and freshly baked bread
Finish: currants, honey, bittersweet
