The Medine distillery is located in the west of Mauritius, nestled between the mountains and the azure blue sea. It has been producing rum since 1926, making it the oldest distillery on the island still in operation.
The distillery is situated at the heart of a sugar cane plantation. Once a year, the sugar cane, rich in juice, is harvested, and from its precious molasses, Penny Blue rum is distilled.
Since bottling also takes place on the estate, it can proudly be claimed as a true Mauritian Single Estate rum. Each bottle is hand-dipped into hot wax, receiving its unique wax seal.
Nose: Fresh and balanced with a subtle spice of smoked wood and tobacco notes.
Palate: Broad and generous mouthfeel, dominated by sweet fruits, wood, and culinary spices.
Finish: Very long, reminiscent of plums macerated in well-aged rum.
